Ice Age world maps

Here are a couple of things that are pretty interesting.

 

The first is a map of what the world looked like during the last ice age.  Notice how much more land there is because the sea levels were lower.  This is really obvious in South East Asia where many of the islands we see today in Indonesia are connected.  Also notice how much bigger Florida is.

 

 

This is a link to a site that you can simulate the changes to the world’s climate and land forms over the past 20,000 years.  Notice how the glaciers melt and the lowest lying areas end up being under water.  Similar to the previous post where you can see changes over time.
